Andy, they repeated 'Life Beyond The Box, Norman Stanley Fletcher' a couple of months ago. But, I'm not sure if they're going 2 repeat it again, but I'm sure that they will @ some point. Does any1 know, if they're going 2 make similar programmes with other classic comedies? I really hope they do 1 for Arkwright

Great to see Going Straight for the first time since I was 7. I still remember laughing when Fletcher switches on the TV to find that Play School is being broadcast! Did anyone notice the cut scenes from Going Straight on UKGOLD? In the third episode the first few minutes were deleted. This involved Fletcher attempting some DIY shelves which promptly fell down when a single book was placed on them. A few minutes were cut up to the point where the shopping list is being finalised. Nicholas Lyndhurst was in the deleted scene here as he was credited in the end titles. Also the first few minutes of Episode 5 were hived off. This was a scene set in the hotel, which went missing too.

Just stumbled onto this site by chance but really enjoyed the memories it rekindled. Grew up in UK and was a Ronnie Barker / Porridge fan all those years ago. Now living in Australia. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Good Site dedicated to easily the most beautifully scripted and acted British Sitcom ever. Delighted to see UK Gold devoting a weekend to all things Porridge. Keep up the good work!!!

As per other comments it was great to finally see Going Straight (too young to really remember the original screenings). Although it lacked some of the really great characters which were in endless supply in Porridge, GS still has some class lines/moments and in comparison with today's "comedies" it must be up there with the best of them.

I have been watching Porridge @ 30 yesterday and today. and I have had Going Straight on video for a few years, my favourite actor in the show was Fulton Mackay, and my favourite episodes were "A Night In" "A Day Out" and Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais are by far the best comedy writers on the planet.

@ last! I have seen Going Straight! It was great, not as good as Porridge, but nothing ever could be. It was such a pity it was only six episodes as it kinda abruptly ended. So does anyone know if this is now going 2 b a regular thing showing Going Straight on UK Gold or was it just a one off?

Watching Porridge @ 30, I forgot how brilliant a programme and we have nothing like it today. They are a brilliant writing team and the cast is superb, shame that Richard Beckinsale had a heart attack. More Series would have been nice too see.

Dear Ian, it's me Leon Bigland, on the Internet on the 11.07.04 I was searching through DVDs when I came across Porridge the Christmas specials and Going Straight that are going to be released on the 4th of October 2004 which is just in time for Christmas which means I can get them. Anyway as soon as I saw this I got the shakes probably due to over excitment, anyway I suddenly remember visiting your site and I thought I'd just let you know seens as your a BBC comedy fan like myself. I was a bit peed off when I saw that Simon Ladd had informed you first but anyway you know now. I'll check in to your site and let you know what I think of them as I don't recall seeing the Christmas specials of Porridge that look good because one episode is on the subject of them brewing alcohol which was a thing women prisoners did on Bad Girls which is a good show.
