I think this website is Excellent

The death of a comedy genius, as Ronnie Barker was & always will be is such a sad sad loss- his memory, his shows & his genius will live forever though- through Porridge, Open All Hours & The Two Ronnies. At least we have that 'little victory' now he is sadly no longer with us.

It is with a great deal of sadness I write this as the great Ronnie Barker has passed away.  There was very little love from my father as a boy and the only time we shared any real emotion was any time Ronnie was on the tv.  We both loved this comic genius and he gave us a bond which lasts to this day.  Even to this day I watch one of his shows at least once a week and have his famous "four candles" sketch on dvd which I watch each time I feel a little low (good advice to anyone suffering depression!!) you will be sadly missed but will be remembered forever by my family and will always bring a smile to my face when I think of you.  God bless.

The door on Fletch's cell has closed for the last time.  Thank goodness for VCR and DVD enabling us to watch the genius of the man for years to come.  Anyone comtemplating comedy as a career should be made to watch all of his comic creations and see how the master did it.  Thanks to you Ron for all those laughs, that is your legacy to us all.

Just to say that I'm gutted about the death of Ronnie Barker, he was a god amongst mortals.  One of the best actors, comedy or otherwise ever to appear on British TV and a tremendous comedy writer to boot.  Long may he be remembered!!!

I saw an interview with Ronnie Barker (before his appearance as Churchills Manservant) during which he revealed that he would accept a film role only on the proviso that he would co star with De Niro or Pacino.  What a terrific film that could have been.  He will be sorely missed and I lament that we so rarely saw him play serious roles.

I was sorry to hear of Ronnie's death.  My children have just started watching my Porridge DVDs with me and I think he would have laughed to hear my 6 year old say "It must have been funny, 'cause they laughed" in the scene where Gobber asks Fletch "What's a practising homosexual?" and Fletch replies "One who hasn't got it right yet."

Growing up with his comedy gave me a sense of humour from a very early age, he had a gift to appeal to all ages I know this because I laughed at his comedy when I was 8 and I still laugh now at 32 and will always laugh.  My heart goes out to his family, live in the comfort that he made millions of people laugh......

I've been away from Britain for nearly 20 years, but I've never forgotten The Two Ronnies and the two great shows Porridge and Open All Hours.  I think I liked Open All Hours most.  I also liked Going Straight, and it was only today that I was surprised to find out that most people think of it as not up to scratch.  I never felt it was a disappointment while it was on.  Today I found out that Ronnie Barker has died.  It's a shock, it really is.  I saw him recently in My House in Umbria, and just seeing him brought the good memories flowing back.  That guy knew how to be funny.  It's a tragic loss.

I grew up watching Ronnie Barker and he never failed to make me laugh.  Open all hours and Porridge are comedy classics.  Another one of my comedy heroes has gone, but he will always live on through his timeless acting and excellent comedy timing.  A sad day he will be missed.

To say that Ronnie was one of my heroes is an understatement in itself.  The joy he gave me, and I am sure will continue to give me, can never be surpassed.  A man and his many characters that could lift me from being miserable every time without fail.  My thoughts are with your family Ronnie.  I know you'll be makin' them laugh upstairs as I write this.  Goodnight and God bless to my favuorite comedian.

I have shared the nickname, "Fletch" with Norman Stanley for many years.  My favourite TV show is still Porridge and in my family quotes like "I read a book once - green it was" and "What? From here?" are an everyday occurrence. Like many others I'll miss just knowing a spirit like Ronnie Barkers exists in the world. Safe journey,
