I am writing this on the 4th October 2005. A very sad day as the longest serving prisoner has finally been released. We all laughed at his antics, and thank goodness future generations can as well. This is an excellent site and now a long lasting tribute to the late Ronnie Barker.

Very impressive website. Looked it up today when I heard that Ronnie Barker had passed away. One of our finest actors and comedians from the old school. Porridge will last for decades even after I depart this earth and there are many hollywood stars that adore it too, in the same way they love Benny Hill, Ronnie Barker RIP.

As I huge fan of the series I was wondering if anyone knows where it is possible to view the scripts from the show on the net? Been searching everywhere but can't find anything - but in the immortal words of Fletch - "Don't let the b******s grind you down!" Cheers.

I found out what I was looking for, what ever happened to Richard Beckinsale. Now I know a heart attack at only 31 in 1979, 7 years before I was born.

The full series of Porridge are playing here in New Zealand now on our UKTV pay channel. The episodes are hilarious, and it is a pleasure to watch such classical and brilliant British Comedy. Ronnie Barker was a genius without doubt, and it is great to see such humour still popular today. The main difference betwwen American humour and British humour is that British humour never apologises for the subject matter - Porridge is a great example of this - may it live for ever!

I have the Porridge Series and Christmas Special but would love the first episode Prisoner and Escort and Going Straight. I am here in Singapore, anyone got any suggestions of where I can get these and if they exist on video and DVD. Love the programme, just wish they had made more! Two teenage daughters hooked too.
